Graduation / Commencement


To be considered for Graduation, a student must fill out a Petition for Graduation. This form should be turned into the Student Services: First Stop/Welcome Center. To have your name listed in the commencement program, you must submit your grad petition by April 9, 2021.


The 2021 Commencement Ceremony will be at 4pm at CMH Field.You must arrive with your guests. Only one car per graduate is permitted. Directions to CMH Field may be downloaded HERE.

Masks and social distancing are required for graduates and guests.

  • You may bring as many people as will fit in one car.
    • Only two people may sit on the field.
    • Everyone else must remain with the vehicle throughout the ceremony
  • All students and guests must remain masked throughout the ceremony.
  • The ceremony will take place on Friday, June 18 at 4:00 pm and will be approximately 1.5 hours long.
  • We ask that you arrive at CMH Field no later than 3:30 pm. You may arrive as early as 3:00 pm.
  • When you arrive at CMH Field, you will be stopped and greeted by the welcome party, who will give you a program.
  • You will be directed to parking but it is not assigned. Parking is first come first served.
    • If you or any member of your party have mobility or other access issues please contact right away to receive a special parking permit.
  • Guest monitors will direct your guests to the audience seating area on the field.
  • Arrive already dressed in your cap and gown; there is nowhere to change at the Field.
    • High heels are not permitted.
    • Fireworks, smoking and sunflower seeds are also not permitted.
    • Keep in mind that CMH Field can get windy and cold, so dress appropriately.
  • After parking, students should gather at the student staging area outside the bleachers.
  • There are four student "Houses" - The Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, Short Circuit and Free Willy.
    • You will receive an email with your house assignment and number. 
    • Look for your movie poster in the student staging area. That is the house you will enter the field with and be seated with.
    • Staff and faculty will make sure you are in the right house. 
    • Houses will line up by number.
    • Each house has a faculty member and a staff member to assist them and escort them on and off the field.
  • After the ceremony you will have an opportunity to give your white rose to a faculty member or staff person - a Clatsop tradition! Afterwards you will return to your car.
  • After the ceremony is concluded and the students have left the field, guest monitors will assist families and friends to leave as well.


This is a very different commencement ceremony and we want everyone to enjoy it; please feel free to decorate your car, your sneakers and/or your cap! Your house is your theme.

If you ordered a cap and gown, you may pick up your order at the College Bookstore located in Columbia Hall.  The bookstore will announce when regalia is available for pickup.  The bookstore is open weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
