Clatsop Community College is offering its next Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program series, providing an opportunity for local residents to begin training for a critical career for this rural region.
Emergency Medical Technicians are often the first healthcare professionals on the scene during medical emergencies, accidents, natural disasters, and other urgent situations. Throughout Clatsop County and the North Coast, EMTs play an essential role in protecting the health and safety of residents and visitors alike. With growing demand for emergency medical services nationwide, EMT certification can also serve as the first step toward careers in paramedicine, nursing, firefighting, healthcare, and emergency management.
To help interested students learn more about the program, CCC will host an EMT Program Information Session on Thursday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Patriot Hall Room 206 on the Lexington Campus. A Zoom option will also be available for those unable to attend in person. The information session will provide details about the EMT program, application process, clinical requirements, program costs, and the steps needed to enroll for the upcoming cohort. Prospective students will also have the opportunity to ask questions and meet program instructors.
“EMTs are a vital part of our healthcare and public safety systems,” said Tina Kotson, CCC Associate VP of Nursing, Allied Health & Public Safety. “Whether responding to a medical emergency in a rural community, assisting during a traffic accident, or supporting patients during transport, EMTs make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day. This program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to serve their communities and begin a career in emergency medicine.”
The next EMT course series begins in September, with classes starting September 22. Courses meet Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m., making the program accessible for many working adults. Instruction is provided by experienced paramedics, EMTs, and emergency medicine professionals.

Students interested in joining the Fall 2026 cohort should begin the enrollment process as soon as possible by contacting CCC Admissions. Following the July 9 information session, prospective students will have until September 7 to complete all required enrollment and program application components, including academic requirements, clinical documentation, immunizations, drug screening, background checks, and other required materials.
By completing these requirements before the September 7 deadline, students will have sufficient time to receive clearance and prepare for the start of classes later that month.
Individuals interested in learning more about the EMT Program or attending the July 9 information session can contact CCC Admissions at Admissions@clatsopcc.edu for additional information and Zoom access details.
As communities across Oregon continue to rely on highly trained emergency responders, Clatsop Community College remains committed to preparing the next generation of EMTs to serve the North Coast with skill, professionalism, and compassion.
