Nursing Assistants are vital parts of a health care team. They are responsible for direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. Nursing Assistants perform duties including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and moving patients.
Nursing Assistants are certified by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, and must take a training course and a certification examination to become Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA-I). Clatsop Community College offers the Nursing Assistant course every term and the class lasts approximately 11 weeks. The course is 155 total hours, with 80 classroom hours and 75 hours of clinical experience.
