Volunteer Opportunities

Below are current opportunities for volunteerism at Clatsop Community College. Contact the individual listed for details.

Volunteer Literacy Program:

Literacy volunteers work one-on-one with individuals or small groups of adult students (16 years and older) teaching English as a Second Language, reading, math and writing. Many students are immigrants but there are also native English speakers who want to upgrade their skills. Literacy volunteers make a commitment of 1-3 hours per week. Training and support is provided. Contact Eileen Purcell, 503-338-2557 for additional volunteer details (.pdf, 98.2 KB).

GED Program:

Volunteers are also needed to assist in GED classes. All study materials are provided by the program. Contact George Heiner, 503-338-2347 for additional details. Specific needs include:

  • Persons literate in Spanish reading, writing and speaking to help students obtain a Spanish GED
  • Persons able to tutor computer skills

Alumni and Members Association:

Volunteer to help build the CCC Alumni and Members Association by joining the Leadership Team. Contact Patricia Warren at 503-338-2306.
