Rain Magazine, Clatsop Community College’s long-running literary arts publication, welcomes art, photography, poetry, nonfiction, and fiction submissions now through Sunday, February 15, 2026 for the 2026 edition.
Rain welcomes submissions from the public as well as all Clatsop Community College and area high school students. Please note that all non-student submissions will be charged a $10 fee to assist with growing costs of the magazine’s publication. This payment can be made to the college’s business office over the phone and/or by mailing a check to Clatsop Community College, with “Rain Magazine” in the memo line.
This year’s theme section challenges us to think about what “Courage” means to us. This could include overcoming adversity, taking on a new life or project, chasing dreams we deeply believe in, and more—however the writer or artist interprets the concept.
All general submissions of art, fiction, poetry, and nonfiction not adhering to the theme will also be considered for the first half of the magazine. Submit no more than two items total but understand that aside from poetry (of which the author can submit three pieces to count as one submission), the $10 submission fee will apply to each submission. This includes poems, photographs, high-quality (at least 300 dpi) digital images of original artwork, and prose less than 1000 words in length. The ability to print color is limited, so artists submitting color images should indicate if the image may appear in black and white.
Label your work by its appropriate genre (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, photograph, art medium) on the attachment. Please include name, address, phone number, email, title of the work(s), medium, and an artist/author biography (100-word max.) with all entries.
Email submissions to rainmagazine@clatsopcc.edu. Include your full name along with “2026 Submission” as the subject line of your email message. You may also mail submissions to Rain Magazine, Clatsop Community College, 1651 Lexington Ave., Astoria, OR, 97103, though email is preferred.
An additional note: there will be many events related to this year’s magazine, in partnership between CCC, AVA, and Wine Kraft. The first two are January 28, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at Wine Kraft for a courageous reading of fiction and nonfiction only; and February 12, 2026 from 5-7p.m. at Wine Kraft for a multi-genre open mic on the “Courage of Love” where all genres (music performances included) will be welcome. Look out for more from AVA for a month-long art gallery celebrating courage in conjunction with Rain Magazine.
