Clatsop Community College and Oregon State University invite all who are interested in STEM—especially food science, biology, and chemistry—to the “Dual Paths, One Future” Open House. The collaborative event takes place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the OSU Seafood Research & Education Center in Astoria.
Attendees will learn about educational pathways, internships, and career opportunities in food science and related STEM fields. High school students, their parents, college students and local educators are encouraged to explore the opportunities of using a CCC to OSU Degree Partnership to start higher education locally with a smooth transition to the university.
“The Degree Partnership Program is a smart, efficient path to a bachelor’s degree at Oregon State University,” said Jarrod Hogue, President of Clatsop Community College. “It saves students tens of thousands of dollars by starting close to home and helps ensure every credit earned counts directly toward their degree.”
Highlights of the open house include:
- Presentation on OSU’s Food Science Research, Internships, and Dual Enrollment Program encouraging students to start career exploration early
- Guided Seafood Lab Tour get a behind-the-scenes look at science in action
- Information tables covering student internships, financial aid and Oregon Promise cost savings, and the OSU Degree Partnership Program
- Raffles & Prizes throughout the event, including a scavenger hunt contest
Guests will have the opportunity to engage with faculty, researchers, and industry professionals while exploring opportunities in STEM education. Light refreshments will be provided.
