Special Art Reception Honoring Pat Harrison
May 29 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
A special reception and art exhibit will honor the memory of Astoria resident Pat Harrison a year after her death.
Harrison, a retired newspaper journalist, was a dedicated member of the urban sketcher movement, a global group of artists who sketch scenes where they live and travel. She documented the activities of real people and nature in Astoria, throughout the Northwest and in Mexico and Europe.
The reception to honor Pat is from 6 pm. to 7:30 p.m. Friday May 29 at the Royal Nebeker Art Gallery, 1799 Lexington Ave., at the Clatsop Community College in Astoria. The reception is open to the public and will include a short, informal program beginning about 6:15. A collection of Pat’s sketches and watercolors will be on display.
“In addition to honoring the memory of Pat, the reception and exhibit extend gratitude to everyone in Astoria and beyond who came together in the months after her passing to remember Pat and to support her partner Beth during a very difficult time,” said Kristin Shauck, art teacher and gallery director at Clatsop Community College. “We want to thank these people and also celebrate the art that was such an important part of Pat’s life.”
Pat’s artwork also will be on display with the student art show at the gallery starting the week of May 18.
