The Royal Nebeker Art Gallery Announces Award Winners of the 16th Annual Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century

The Royal Nebeker Art Gallery at Clatsop Community College is pleased to announce the award recipients for the 16th Annual Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century international juried exhibition, following a well-attended community reception that was held on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

More than 200 visitors filled the gallery for the community reception and twenty-two participating artists attended in person.

This year’s juror Martha Lee, owner and director of the Russo Lee Gallery in Portland, selected 48 works of art from over 300 images submitted by artists from 20 U.S. states, in addition to international submissions from Canada. During the awards presentation, Lee spoke about her experience in selecting the work for the show and the following awards were announced:    

Cash Award Winners

First Place: Olympia by Marie-Ange Ackad of Montreal, Canada 

Second Place: Women and Their Vessels by Christa Brandenburg  of McMinnville, OR

Third Place: Untitled (MM Open Ache) by Selisa Rausch of Bozeman, MT

Exhibit Award and Workshop Award 

Gordon Barnes (Portland, OR), Untitled (King Oscar), Printmaking 

Purchase Awards (to be added to the college’s growing Au Naturel Permanent Collection) 

Siren, Woodblock print by Karina Andrews (Astoria, OR)

Grappling with Reality, Cone 6 stoneware with stain and glaze by Linda Jerome (Hillsboro, OR)

People’s Choice Award Voting Continues 

All visitors are invited to weigh in on the People’s Choice Award by casting a vote before the exhibition closes on March 12, 2026. Ballots are available in the gallery, and the winner will be announced after the votes are tallied.

The 16th Annual Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century remains on view at the Royal Nebeker Art Gallery through March 12, 2026. Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Sundays and holidays by appointment only. Admission is free and open to the public.

Founded in 2007, Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century is an internationally recognized juried exhibition celebrating the timeless tradition of the nude in contemporary art. Held at Clatsop Community College’s Royal Nebeker Art Gallery, the exhibit brings together artists from across the country and beyond, exploring the human figure through diverse artistic perspectives.
