The Clatsop Community College Board of Education has appointed William (Bill) Montero as the new representative for Zone 3, Position 7. The Board met on Wednesday, October 29, at the College’s South County Campus in Seaside to interview two candidates who had submitted applications for the open seat. Following deliberation, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Montero to the position. He will be officially sworn in at the next regular Board meeting on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Montero, a longtime Seaside resident, has lived in Zone 3 since 2001. He brings extensive business and leadership experience to the Board, along with a strong personal commitment to community development, education, and workforce growth on the North Coast.
“It is an honor to serve on the college board”, stated Montero, “I’m eager to foster collaboration between North and South County and get skilled employees into area jobs. I have a tech background and am excited about supporting the college in integrating technology into programs and making sure students feel comfortable with it as they go out into the workforce.”
In his letter of interest, Montero expressed his dedication to supporting affordable housing, reducing homelessness, sustaining economic development, expanding access to education, and helping cultivate the region’s future workforce. His professional background includes ownership of Cornet Properties and Hamilton Market and partnership roles in numerous local and regional businesses, including Seaside Oceanfront Inn, Sports Boys, and White Cap Catering.
Montero has also been active in education and workforce training throughout his career. He became a certified vocational training instructor in Washington State in 1983 and taught computer and vocational courses at the Seattle Opportunities and Industrialization Center and Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Locally, he has contributed to career training programs at the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria.
