CCC Graduates stand at the 2018 commencement ceremonies in Patriot Hall

College Graduation Festivities Focus on Live and Local

Clatsop Community College is proud to announce the graduation festivities for the 2021 graduating class. This year’s commencement ceremony will celebrate the achievements of this year’s graduates and also include recognition of the 2020 graduates who did not receive a ceremony last year due to COVID restrictions. 123 potential degrees and certificates will be awarded to the 2021 graduates and 107 degrees and certificates will be recognized for last year’s 2020 graduates.

Graduates from both years are invited to attend an outdoor commencement ceremony on Friday, June 18th, at 4 p.m. at the CMH Sports Complex in Astoria. Graduates and their families will park according to designated parking spots and students will be provided a limited number of tickets for their guests to sit in the bleachers based upon the current Risk Level Guidance at the time of the ceremony. Face coverings will be required for this outdoor college event.  Live streaming of the ceremony will be available on the Clatsop Community College YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend due to social distancing measures and COVID response guidelines.

Clatsop Community College is honored to have the Astoria Warrenton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, David Reid, as the 2021 commencement guest speaker. David has been the Executive Director at the Astoria Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce since 2018.  He was selected executive director for his community involvement at the Chamber, the Astoria Downtown Historic District Association, Astoria Rotary, Clatsop County Historical Society and more.  David and his wife, Lisa, found Astoria in 2002 and immediately set about making it their hometown, which involved a lot of listening, a lot of volunteering, and a lot of learning how to be good citizens of a small city.

“After the challenges of this past year, the student representatives and graduation committee wanted a speaker who had been here in the community with them through it all. David is the pinnacle of what it means to be part of this community and we are honored he will be joining us in this celebration of achievement,” stated Clatsop Community College President Chris Breitmeyer.
