What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships offer the chance to learn a skilled trade through a combination of related classroom instruction and PAID on-the-job training. Apprentices work under the guidance of a journey-level worker on real job sites, gradually earning more responsibilities as they learn more. The more they learn, the more they earn! Apprenticeships are the start of a great, family-wage career you can take pride in.
What do Plumbers do?
Plumbers assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, fixtures, water heaters, water and drainage systems in both commercial and residential buildings. They are great puzzle solvers that are able to trace leaks and other problems to the source in order to help systems operate smoothly. Plumbers use different hand tools, materials and fittings, read blueprints, follow specifications, follow city and county codes and state disability standards. They solder and silver braze copper pipe, drill, trench, lift heavy materials, work on ladders and in confined spaces. They can work installing new fixtures or doing service calls to fix existing plumbing in homes or businesses.
