TRIO is a US Department of Education program that helps students succeed in High School and College. Students are from families that are either income eligible or neither parent/guardian has a 4-year college degree. TRIO was started by President Johnson in 1965 as part the War on Poverty.
Clatsop Community College has three TRIO programs: Talent Search, Upward Bound and Student Support Services. TRIO has been at Clatsop Community College since 1991. Bob Ellsberg and Ed Bohart wrote the first Talent Search and Upward Bound grants for Clatsop Community College.
