To begin supporting Clatsop Community College as a Volunteer in any program, complete the Volunteer Service Agreement (.pdf, 12.92 KB) and return it to your contact person.
Below are current opportunities for volunteerism at Clatsop Community College. Contact the individual listed for details.
Literacy volunteers work one-on-one with individuals or small groups of adult students (16 years and older) teaching English as a Second Language, reading, math and writing. Many students are immigrants but there are also native English speakers who want to upgrade their skills. Literacy volunteers make a commitment of 1-3 hours per week. Training and support is provided. Contact Eileen Purcell, 503-338-2557 for additional volunteer details (.pdf, 98.2 KB).
Volunteers are also needed to assist in GED classes. All study materials are provided by the program. Contact Vanessa Garner, 503-338-2347 for additional details. Specific needs include:
Clatsop Community College Wellness Committee and Facilities Department invite CCC students, student organizations, departments, employees, volunteer groups and community members to join the volunteer-based Adopt-A-Garden Program.
What is Adopt-A-Garden? Adopt-A-Garden is an opportunity for volunteers to adopt a defined landscaped area on any of the CCC campuses. The adopting individual or group is responsible for maintaining the area during Spring, Summer and Fall Terms.
What do you do? Volunteers will maintain landscaped areas by weeding and pruning existing plants. Beds should be tended approximately every two-three weeks or as needed. Annual flowers may be planted if approved by the Facilities Department and if removed at the end of the growing season. Please be aware that there is extremely limited access to water and that CCC does not have an irrigation system. Only non-toxic sprays or supplements may be used.
What will you need? Volunteers will provide their own gardening tools and supplies. The Facilities Department will provide bags or containers needed for debris removal. If approved, volunteers may provide annuals and mulch as needed. You’ll also bring your energy, time and enthusiasm to help beautify CCC, promote your group, build community and keep fit.
When do we start? Contact the Facilities Department to determine what garden spots are available: facilityservicerequests@clatsopcc.edu, 503-338-2492.
How much does it cost? FREE! And you or your group will receive recognition on the CCC website and in the Annual Report to the Community. Â
Interested? Complete the Adopt-A-Garden Request Form (.pdf, 52KB) and return to the Facilities Department at 503-338-2492.
