If learning is a lifetime activity, then the first years of a child's life are the foundation for later success. Students in the Early Childhood Education Program at Clatsop Community College learn how to foster cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth in preschool and elementary classrooms and daycare facilities. At Clatsop, classroom studies are combined with practical experience working with educators throughout our region. Our students get the chance to put theory into practice and learn classroom management, curriculum design, and teaching fundamentals from master teachers.
Our graduates are qualified to become Assistant Teachers in Early Childhood Learning Programs, and many have used what they learned at Clatsop to become independent daycare providers. This program is also an excellent beginning for a student interested in becoming a certified classroom teacher, and your advisor can create a roadmap to your goal.
Average wages start at minimum wage and range to $15 per hour.
