Rain Magazine Invites Submissions for the 2017 Edition

Rain Magazine, Clatsop Community College’s annual literary and arts publication, invites submissions now through Feb. 1 for the 2017 edition. Proud of its 40-plus years publishing the art and literature of the local talented coastal community, Rain welcomes submissions from the general public as well as CCC students and area high school students.

Submit no more than three items total, including poems, photographs, high quality (at least 300 dpi) digital images of original artwork, and prose less than 5,000 words in length.

Ales and Ideas Presents The Mediterranean Muse: Place, Displacement, Friendship & Creativity

Clatsop Community College and the Fort George Brewery are pleased to announce the November event for the 2016-17 Thursday night Ales & Ideas community lectures.  On Thursday, November 3rd, CCC faculty Kristin Shauck and Nancy Cook will share slides from their June 2016 educational tour of Barcelona, Southern France, and Italy while discussing the role of place, travel, and friendship in art history and their own creative processes with fine art and creative writing.

The Beauty of Inelegance: Abstract Paintings by Laura Viola-Preciado Opens at CCC Royal Nebeker Art Gallery

The Clatsop Community College Royal Nebeker Art Gallery will open its 2016/2017 exhibition season with a show entitled The Beauty of Inelegance, a solo exhibition by Laura Viola-Preciado. Selected to exhibit in the 2016 Au Naturel competition by Lisa Harris, the highly respected director and owner of Lisa Harris Gallery in Seattle, Viola-Preciado was also chosen by the art department faculty to receive the coveted prize of a solo exhibition.
