State Treasurer Ted Wheeler to Address CCC Graduates

Oregon State Treasurer Ted Wheeler will address graduates and guests at the 2013 Clatsop Community College Commencement Ceremony, Friday, June 14, at 7:00p.m. in the Liberty Theater. A large graduating class is anticipated, and seating is limited.

GED Recipients to be Honored June 6

Clatsop Community College will honor 2012/2013 GED recipients at a ceremony on June 6 at 11am in Columbia Hall Room 219, 1651 Lexington Avenue, Astoria.

2013 RAIN Magazine Public Reading & Reception

Clatsop Community College is pleased to announce the release of the 2013 edition of RAIN Magazine. The student staff of RAIN will host a Public Reading and Reception at the Fort George Lovell Showroom, 14th & Duane in Astoria, at 6pm on Thursday May 30th. Contributors will read from their work, original artwork will be displayed, and complimentary copies of the magazine will be available.  Complimentary refreshments will be served and limited menu along with seasonal ales will also be available for purchase.  Doors open at 5:30pm.

Galizio Appointed to Regional College Accreditation Commission

Clatsop Community College President Dr. Lawrence Galizio has been appointed to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities to serve the remaining term of a seat vacated by Dr. Gerald Pumphrey, former President of South Puget Sound Community College. At the end of this term, he will be eligible for election to a new 3-year term.

CCC Approved for Elite USCG Training Ship Program

Clatsop Community College’s Maritime Science Program has received approval from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) as an approved Training Ship Program that allows those successfully completing the course of study to be credited with 360 days of sea service, training and testing towards an endorsement as Able Seaman Special (AB-Special) or Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) upon Near Coastal or Inland Waters.

CCC Summer Term Registration Opens

Registration is now open for the Summer Term at Clatsop Community College. A list of credit, workforce training and community education classes is available. A printed schedule of summer courses and Arts & Ideas events will be arriving in households soon.

Clatsop Community College’s Annual Mental Math Contest Tests Student’s Skill

Clatsop Community College’s annual Mental Math Contest was held Thursday, May 9th, 2013. During the Contest, students are asked math questions and have 30 seconds to work out each problem in their heads and write their answers on a piece of paper.
