Local Lawyer Selected as 2016 Commencement Speaker

Clatsop Community College is proud to announce that Tatjana Queener will address graduates at the 2016 commencement ceremony Friday, June 10th, at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Theater in Astoria.

“Clatsop Community College is honored to have Tatjana as our 2016 commencement speaker. A former community college student herself, Tatjana understands the important role that community colleges play in our communities, state and nation,” says Gerald Hamilton, Interim President of Clatsop Community College.

Ales & Ideas presents CCC Graduate Showcase

Clatsop Community College and the Fort George Brewery are pleased to announce the finale event in the 2015-16 first Thursday Ales & Ideas community lectures.  Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, CCC Faculty Deac Guidi and Nancy Cook will emcee our first, hopefully annual CCC Graduate Showcase.  Doors open with food and beverage service at 6pm.  Multimedia lecture starts promptly at 7pm.  Seasonal beers on tap, food and other beverages are available for purchase, but no purchase is required. The Fort George Lovell Showroom is located at 14th and Duane St. in Astoria.  Minors are welcome.

Arts and Experiences Dinner and Auction a Big Success

Thanks to many generous donors, guests and volunteers, the Clatsop Community College Foundation raised $100,400 at its annual Arts & Experiences Dinner and Auction on Saturday, April 30.

Approximately 200 patrons including community leaders, college representatives, artists and arts supporters from around the area joined the festivities at the Astoria Golf & Country Club to raise money for the college’s Foundation which supports student scholarships and departmental equipment needs.

Chris Breitmeyer Accepts Position as Clatsop Community College President

Chris Breitmeyer has accepted the Board of Directors’ offer to become the next president of Clatsop Community College. Breitmeyer will start his new position in July as he settles into the area with his family this summer.

“We are extremely pleased to announce that Chris has accepted the offer,” said Rosemary Baker-Monaghan, Board of Directors Chair for Clatsop Community College. “We look forward to him starting and feel he will bring new energy to the college.”

CCC Releases 2016 Rain Magazine

Clatsop Community College invites the community to celebrate the release of the 2016 edition of Rain Magazine at a free public reading and reception, Friday, May 20 from 6:00 to 8:30pm in the Towler Hall  3rd floor Commons. Gather at 5:30pm for an author meet-and-greet and reading signup before the program begins.

Clatsop Community College Announces 2016 Outstanding Student Scholars

Clatsop Community College is proud to announce the Outstanding Student Scholars for 2016, Alex Autio of Astoria, OR and Georges Oates Larsen also of Astoria, OR. Faculty and staff nominate students whom they believe are most outstanding in terms of excellence in the classroom, general intellectual curiosity, service to the college and their community, and the ability to share their talents with others.
