RAIN Magazine, Clatsop Community College's (CCC) literary publication, is accepting submissions now through January 10, 2010 for its Spring 2010 Diversity edition.

RAIN Magazine is proud of its 40+ year history publishing the art and literature of our talented coastal community. The magazine welcomes submissions from the general public as well as CCC students. This year's publication invites writers and visual artists to submit work that explores the CCC Institutional Learning Outcome to appreciate and understand diversity. The sky is the limit for approaches to this theme: Cultural diversity? Ecological diversity? Economic diversity? Diversity of art forms? Diversity of North Coast locally owned businesses? Understanding and appreciating diversity is an ongoing process in any community, and RAIN Magazine hopes to print a rich array of perspectives to help foster productive dialogue surrounding the theme. Note: In January, the student selection committee will consider open submissions alongside work that explores this chosen theme. However, depending upon selections received, open submissions may be at a competitive disadvantage to those that actively explore the issue of understanding and appreciating diversity in some manner.

Please submit no more than ten pages of prose, three poems, three digital photos or high quality JPEGS of original artwork. We can only print a limited number of color images; so, artists choosing to submit color images should indicate if they would allow the image to be printed in B&W. Include name, address, phone number, e-mail address and a brief biography (2-3 sentences) with all entries. Include a SASE for return of manuscripts. Otherwise, we will recycle them. Online submissions are welcome and encouraged if submitted as a WORD or JPEG attachment (email to Submissions, online or otherwise, without proper contact information will not be considered.
