PRESS RELEASE: HOT QUA STRING BAND
Hot Qua String Band began as an idea between original members Bob Hoehne and Jesse Scriven, who met while collaborating in the music program at Umpqua Community College. The band then came together for the first time in September 2003 and was an immediate hit with their audiences. Their music has been described as Gypsy Swing and Latin Hoedown with a dash of Django added to the mix. The current line up consists of Bob Hoehne playing a hot fiddle, Jesse Scriven on guitar, Seth Kirby playing the mandolin, Jason Heald holding down the bottom end on the bass and the ever-personable Randy Gates on vocals.
Over the past five years, Hot Qua String Band has made a name for itself performing at festivals and concerts throughout Oregon; now they are coming to Astoria for the first time. You can enjoy this entertaining group on Saturday, August 22nd, 2009 at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center, located at the intersection of 16th and Franklin Street in downtown Astoria. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased in advance at Bach 'N' Rock or at the door one half hour before the show. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.
For The Hot Qua String Band, this venture is truly about the music and the feeling it inspires. The goal is to invite people to forget about the pressures of day-to-day life, relax, have a good time and enjoy some great live music. Don't miss this show.
