University of Oregon is Oregon’s second largest public university with 20,829 undergraduate students from all over the U.S. and 85 other countries. 271 degree programs are offered, including arts, humanities, sciences, technology and pre-professional majors. Many departments rank in the top 10 in the U.S. including chemistry, economics, English, physics, psychology, molecular biology, neuroscience, sustainable design, and sports marketing. Optional Freshman Interest Groups connect you with other first year students in your academic area. 60 of these are available, and 20 are groups who also live together in the residence halls. UO offers study abroad programs in 95 countries such as Argentina, China, Denmark, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan & S. Africa. It also fields eighteen varsity sports teams competing in the PAC 10 conference.
Lane Community College, is a two-year college with over 33,000 students on a 314-acre campus in southeast Eugene, with additional facilities in Florence, Cottage Grove, and the Lane Aviation Academy at the Eugene Airport. It offers two-year transfer Associate Degrees, career-technical applied associate degrees and certificates. State-approved programs offer students preparation for employment in approximately 50 career areas including: health careers such as nursing & paramedicine, flight technology, culinary arts and hotel and restaurant management, auto and diesel mechanics, manufacturing, business and computer careers, graphic design and multimedia careers, exercise science, as well as criminal justice and human relations careers. LCC's Green career programs at include watershed science, water conservation, energy management, renewable energy and sustainability.
