College Bridge Program

Since 2005, Clatsop Community College has been working closely with area high schools to provide graduating seniors access to information and assistance when planning for college. Research offers compelling evidence demonstrating a correlation between level of education attained and future income and quality of life.  The purpose of Clatsop’s College Bridge Program is to motivate participants to consider attending college.

Warrenton High School Principal Rod Heyen believes that, "The College Bridge Program exposes our kids to the ease of getting into a college program. So many times, students don't have someone watching out for them and pushing them in the right direction. This program has allowed our students to overcome insecurities about entering college. I feel that five of our students entering Clatsop Community College next year would not have attempted college without the College Bridge Program."

How can I participate in the College Bridge Program?

CCC works closely with the local high schools in Clatsop county to provide information that supports and reinforces college planning efforts.  College Bridge Programs are tailored to the individuals needs of each school. Please see your high school counselor for dates and information, or call Monica Van Steenberg at 503-338-2417.

There are several advantages for seniors who complete the College Bridge Program:

  • Students will learn about the personal and financial benefits of attending college.
  • Students will be informed about financial resources available for funding college.
  • Students will gain experience filling out the Clatsop Application for Admission.
  • Clatsop Community College will waive the $15 application fee.
  • Graduating students who complete the program and meet high school graduation requirements will be accepted to CCC.
  • Participating students will have an opportunity to complete Clatsop’s mandatory admissions placement test.
