Sharing my passion for the written word and helping students communicate well are what inspire me. Both reading and writing create opportunities to learn so many things. A well written poem or story is like a great painting or symphony—powerful enough to engage the human spirit.
As I teach I’m interested in what influences an author. What connections were personally meaningful? Where does the writing come from? What experiences shaped this poem or that story? These questions are particularly important in our own area where there is such a strong link between those who live here and our beautiful sea and land.
The best part of my day is when I see the light come on as students learn to communicate. They are realizing their own source of power and I can see success in their future.
