SUMMARY:Special Art Reception Honoring Pat Harrison
DESCRIPTION:A special reception and art exhibit will honor the memory of Astoria resident Pat Harrison a year after her death. \n\n\n\nHarrison\, a retired newspaper journalist\, was a dedicated member of the urban sketcher movement\, a global group of artists who sketch scenes where they live and travel. The reception is open to the public and will include a short\, informal program beginning about 6:15. A collection of Pat’s sketches and watercolors will be on display. \n\n\n\n“In addition to honoring the memory of Pat\, the reception and exhibit extend gratitude to everyone in Astoria and beyond who came together in the months after her passing to remember Pat and to support her partner Beth during a very difficult time\,” said Kristin Shauck\, art teacher and gallery director at Clatsop Community College.  “We want to thank these people and also celebrate the art that was such an important part of Pat’s life.” \n\n\n\nPat’s artwork also will be on display with the student art show at the gallery starting the week of May 18.

SUMMARY:Ales & Ideas: Mind Over Data- The Pen is Mightier Than the Droid

We will pose questions of plagiarism and theft of intellectual property\, human versus machine. \n\n\n\nLaurie is an MFA candidate in Eastern Oregon University’s Landscape\, Ecology and Community focused program. Her past work has been featured in Rain Magazine. Future offerings are forthcoming in Line of Advance and Garden of Neuro Publishing.
