Scholarship Funds Available - Apply by Oct. 26

The following scholarships are currently available. Applications must be filed with the CCC Financial Aid Office by 5:00pm, Friday, October 26. For information and forms visit Scholarships. For questions, visit the Financial Aid Office or call 503-338-2322.

Emmett D. Towler Scholarship

  • Number of awards: 2 Amount: $3,083
  • Based on: Academic accomplishments, portfolio, intellectual and creative distinctions, extracurricular activities and letters of reference.
  • Criteria: Awards in the areas of creative writing (Poetry, Drama, Fiction, Children’s Books), journalism, art and music. Scholars do not have to major in the above disciplines, yet they must demonstrate ability in these academic areas.
  • Students will be selected as finalists on the basis of their accomplishments, artwork, journalism submissions, music participation or original essays.
  • Applicants must submit: (1) a portfolio of works for Art; or (2) a portfolio of writings (3-5 pieces, 20 page maximum) (Poetry, Drama, Fiction, Children’s Books) for Creative Writing; or (3) a portfolio of published articles, essays (3-5 pieces) for Journalism; or (4) an audition tape or CD for Music, and complete the Towler Scholarship Application available on the CCC Financial Aid/Scholarship area of the web site.
  • Minimum enrollment requirement: Full-time (12 or more quarter credits).
  • Funds available: 1/3 Fall, 2012, 1/3 Winter, 2013 and 1/3 Spring, 2013.
  • Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies while enrolled at CCC.

WATEC (Waited A While To Enter College) Scholarship

  • Number of awards: 1 Amount: $3,240
  • Based on: Merit/Academic Achievement, Goals and References, Need
  • References Criteria: A personal reference letter including any community involvement, honors, achievements, and two faculty reference letters from the math and science department.
  • Criteria: Second-year female student over 21, majoring in a non-traditional field, minimum 3.0 GPA. Prior recipients not eligible.
  • Minimum enrollment requirement: Full-time (12 or more quarter credits).
  • Funds available: 1/3 Fall, 2012, 1/3 Winter, 2013 and 1/3 Spring, 2013.
  • Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies while enrolled at CCC.

Judy Hogan for the Arts Scholarship

  • Number of awards: 1 Amount: $264
  • Based on: Need and Academic Achievement
  • Criteria: 2-year degree student majoring in Art, preferably visual art.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • References Criteria: A personal reference letter including any community involvement, honors, achievements, and two faculty reference letters from the art department.
  • Minimum enrollment requirement: Full-time (12 or more quarter credits).
  • Funds available: Fall 2012. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies while enrolled at CCC.

John and Betty Gray Early Childhood Initiative Grant of the Oregon
Community Foundation - Scholarship

  • Number of awards: 1 Amount: $1,200
  • Based on: Students with declared ECE Certificate or AAS demonstrating an interest in early childhood education and who have financial need.
  • Criteria: Students enrolled in a degree or certificate program; must have completed at least 6 credits toward their degree or certificate, at least 3 of which have the ECE prefix.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • References Criteria: A personal reference letter including any community involvement, honors, achievements, and two faculty reference letters.
  • Minimum enrollment requirement: Half-time (6 or more quarter credits).
  • Funds available: 1/3 Fall, 2012, 1/3 Winter, 2013, 1/3 Spring, 2013
  • Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies while enrolled at CCC.
  • Funds may be used for tuition and fees while enrolled at CCC.

Meredith Fick Memorial Scholarship

  • Number of awards: 1 Amount: $500
  • Based on: Need and academic achievement
  • Criteria: Second-year student seeking a degree in nursing or health-related field
  • References Criteria: A personal reference letter including any community involvement, honors, achievements, and two faculty reference letters.
  • Minimum enrollment requirement: Full-time (12 or more quarter credits).
  • Funds: Fall 2012.
  • Funds may be used for tuition, fees and books while enrolled at CCC.

Columbia Historic Preservation Scholarship

  • Number of Awards: 1 Amount: $500
  • Based on: Goals
  • Criteria: Second-year Historic Preservation student; minimum 2.0 GPA
  • References Criteria: A personal reference letter including any community involvement, honors, achievements, and two faculty reference letters.
  • Minimum enrollment requirement: Full-time (12 or more quarter credits)
  • Funds available: Fall 2012
  • Funds may be used for Tuition and Fees while enrolled at CCC.

North Coast Automotive Repair Industry Scholarship

  • Number of Awards: 2 Amount: $437
  • Based on: Need, Merit/Academic achievement
  • Criteria: Second-year AAS-Auto Technician student; minimum 2.5 GPA
  • References Criteria: A personal reference letter including any community
  • involvement, honors, achievements, and two faculty reference letters.
  • Minimum enrollment requirement: Half-time (6 or more quarter credits)
  • Funds available: Fall 2012
  • Funds may be used for Tuition and Fees while enrolled at CCC.
