In support of the Miller Foundation challenge, Mr. David Lum, owner and founder of Lum’s Auto Center, has made a personal donation of $1,500 to Clatsop Community College.
Matching funds from the Miller Foundation will double Mr. Lum’s contribution, providing a total of $3,000 in scholarships to help meet the needs of CCC students. The money is earmarked for the College’s Automotive Technician program.
“Creating jobs in our community is important to me. This gift enables students to pursue a tremendous career in the automotive industry,” says Mr. Lum.
The James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation has announced that it will, for a third and final year, match new contributions for scholarships to Oregon’s community colleges. Donations for scholarships to CCC Foundation from individuals, organizations and estates during the past two years have qualified for over $100,000 total in matching funds from the Miller Foundation. To earn the maximum amount available to Clatsop this coming year, CCC Foundation will need $50,000 in new scholarship contributions from local individuals and organizations.
CCC President Dr. Larry Galizio and his wife, Janice, were the first donors this academic year to step up to the Miller Foundation challenge, donating $1,000 for scholarships and securing additional pledges from their family members.
