The Dora Badollet Library at Clatsop Community College has joined the statewide Oregon Library Passport Program. This new program allows card-holders from participating public and academic libraries to register and use any other participating library across Oregon.
The Oregon Library Passport Program was launched by the Oregon Library Association. Its intent is to expand Oregonians’ access to library materials. “The Oregon Library Passport Program recognizes that library service ought to mirror the way Oregonians live, work, shop, and play, and reduce barriers to library service,” says Michele Burke, President of the Oregon Library Association.
Candice Watkins, Director of the CCC Dora Badollet Library notes, “Since Clatsop County doesn’t have county-wide library service, this is a golden opportunity for the county’s residents. We invite them to join the CCC Library for a modest fee of $5 for 3 months or $20 for an entire year and gain access to an extensive network of public and academic libraries.”
Passport Program details, including a complete list of participating libraries, can be found online. Regional public libraries that are participating include: Astoria Public Library, Scappoose Public Library District, Manzanita Branch Library, Rockaway Beach Branch Library and Vernonia Public Library. Participating academic libraries in addition to CCC include: Eastern Oregon University-Pierce Library, Linfield College-Nicholson Library, Oregon Health & Science University Library and Oregon State University- Valley Library and Guin Library. The list of participating libraries is expected to grow over time.
The CCC Dora Badollet Library, 1680 Lexington Avenue, Astoria is open Monday-Thursday: 8am-6pm; Friday 8am-5pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm.
