Clatsop Community College’s accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) is scheduled for reevaluation in 2011. An on-site evaluation of Clatsop Community College by a NWCCU-selected committee of higher education peers is scheduled for April 13-15, 2011 as part of NWCCU’s comprehensive evaluation for re-accreditation. The purpose of this visit is to independently evaluate the College pursuant to the Commission’s accreditation standards and eligibility requirements.
Clatsop Community College is currently accredited by NWCCU and has been since 1965, being the first community college in the state of Oregon to be regionally accredited. Being an accredited institution indicates that the College meets the Commission's established standards of educational quality and effectiveness, and indicates: 1) has clearly defined and appropriate educational objectives; 2) operates under conditions by which achievement of those educational objectives can reasonably be expected; 3) is substantially accomplishing its educational objectives; and 4) is organized, staffed, and supported to warrant confidence that it will continue to achieve its educational objectives in the foreseeable future.
