"Music 180 & 280 " Guitar Recital/Concert Featuring Dave Drury and Clatsop Community College Guitar Students  Friday, March 4th at 7:00 pm

“Music 180 & 280: Dave Drury & CCC students In Concert” will feature recital performances by some of Clatsop Community College instructor David Drury’s guitar students, followed by Drury in concert.  This will be a great opportunity for students to perform before a live audience in a wonderful performing arts facility; a venue to be enjoyed by family and friends, as well as our very supportive public in Astoria and the surrounding region.  Some students will perform solo and others will be joined by David.  Recitalists, in alphabetical order include:  Bjorn Anthony, demonstrating his interest in hammering and shredding technique with a song entitled “Big Sur Moon;” Stuart Bosch showing his well honed skill as a bass guitarist, playing a rhythm and blues tune with Dave; Elias Grey will play an expressive arrangement of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps;” Liz Hylton embraces the audience with a wonderful medley of “Green Sleeves” and Bach’s “Jesus Joy of Mans Desiring;” Evan Janac, demonstrates his versatility, this time as a jazz guitarist, playing Duke Ellington’s “Satin Doll;” Devon Nikkila plays a very cool blues; and David Wigutoff takes us back to the 60’s with his finger style guitar.  David Drury will finish the program as a solo guitarist with some of his original material and a variety of jazz and American Song Book pieces.      Drury is a former RCA recording artist and has performed in much of the United States, including venues with the Phoenix Symphony, on separate occasions with David Rose and Percy Faith.  He is a Writer Member of BMI, and his band’s RCA recording, “Myrth,” was listed on the Billboard Magazine charts for several weeks in the top twenty. Though he is known for his ability to improvise and play jazz, his music is influenced and inspired by many years playing rock, blues, jazz, country, classical, swing and big band style standards and show tunes.  Currently he divides his time between performing, writing and recording music, and is in his twentieth year teaching guitar at Clatsop Community College.
> Tickets for this concert are $5.00 and can be purchased in advance at Bach 'n' Rock or at the door starting at 6:30.
