CCC Program Explores Cryptography and Surveillance

Clatsop Community College will host a free public presentation by CCC Math instructor Rich Beveridge, Cryptography and Surveillance in the Electronic Age, on Tuesday May 20, 2014 from Noon – 1:00 p.m. in Columbia Hall Room 219, 1651 Lexington Avenue, Astoria.

The talk will cover the history of electronic communication and surveillance in the 19th and 20th centuries as well as the basic mathematics of public key cryptography.  The recent events surrounding Edward Snowden’s release of classified information will also be discussed.
