Clatsop Community College offers academic instruction in music appreciation and applied instruction in music performance.

  • MUS 105: MUSIC APPRECIATION

Students briefly study the elements of music, then examine the major historical music eras including contemporary musical theatre, popular music, and non-western music.   • MUP 180 and MUP 280: INDIVIDUAL LESSONS - GUITAR 

Students take individual instruction in beginning or advanced guitar performance . Note: No more than 12 credits on a major instrument and six credits on a secondary instrument of individual lessons numbered MUP 171-192 and 271-292 may be applied to an associate degree.

In conjunction with the North Coast Chorale (a college community partner), students may earn college credit for rehearsing and performing with the chorale.

  • MUS 134: GROUP VOICE - BEGINNING

Students learn techniques of chorale singing through participation in the North Coast Chorale. Instructor permission required.

In conjunction with the North Coast Symphonic Band (a college community partner), students may earn college credit for rehearsing and performing with the band.

  • MUS 142 & MUS 143: GROUP WOODWIND - BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE

Students learn techniques of ensemble woodwind performance through participation in the North Coast Symphonic Band. Instructor permission required.

  • MUS 144 & MUS 145:GROUP BRASS - BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE

Students learn techniques of ensemble brass performance through participation in the North Coast Symphonic Band. Instructor permission required.

  • MUS 147 & MUS 148: GROUP PERCUSSION - BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE

Students learn techniques of ensemble percussion performance through participation in the North Coast Symphonic Band. Instructor permission required.
