The CCC Arts & Ideas program invites the community to attend a special lecture on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Columbia Hall, Room 219.
Gerald Berk, Professor of Political Science at the University of Oregon, will present his lecture “Too Big to Fail? Louis Brandeis, the Banking Crisis and the Antitrust Tradition.” Professor Berk will speak on the relevance of Louis Brandeis’ ideas to the current banking crisis and a renewed interest in Brandeis’ ideas for reforms. Louis Brandeis’ law career was known for his work on progressive social causes, and he served as an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1916-1939.
Professor Berk is the author of the highly acclaimed, Louis D. Brandeis and the Making of Regulated Competition, 1900–1932, (Cambridge University Press, 2009).
