The Astoria Tuba Quartet will present a concert of Jazz and familiar standards from the American songbook.
The concert is February 27 at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 3:00 p.m.
Included on the program are two original Jazz compositions written by Tenor Tuba Player Bob Joiner, as well as several of his Jazz arrangements. Other area composers featured on the program include an arrangement by the late Norm Poulshock of Ilwaco and a composition by Rockaway composer David Robertson. A.T.Q. has been in existence for over thirty years, and was started by the leader, and only original member of the group, Dennis Hale. This heavy metal group has performed throughout the northwest at several colleges, public schools, and public concerts. Other members of the Astoria Tuba Quartet include Bob Joiner, Brian Bergman, and Lee Stromquist. "Low Blow" is co-sponsored by Clatsop Community College's Arts & Ideas program. Admission to the February 27 Astoria Tuba Quartet concert is $10.00; tickets are available in advance at Bach 'n' Rock or at the PAC. The PAC is located at 16th & Franklin Street in Astoria and is ADA accessible.
