New Sign Honors Naming of Royal Nebeker Gallery

In 2015, Clatsop Community College Art Department announced that the campus art gallery officially be named the Royal Nebeker Gallery in honor of a former long-term faculty member who had an immeasurable impact at the college and in the community. On Thursday, May 17th, 2018, the sign at the entrance to the building displaying the gallery name will be dedicated during the Art Student Show reception. The dedication will include speakers from the college and Nebeker’s family in attendance including Royal's son, Israel Nebeker of the band Blind Pilot, who will perform a song in honor of Royal. The reception starts at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.

For more than three decades, Royal Nebeker served as a teacher, colleague, mentor, and role model.  Royal dedicated his life to teaching, and showed by example the importance of the arts in all aspects of life. His presence will be felt in the CCC Art Department for generations to come.
