Historic Preservation and Restoration Receive Money Gift from Lower Columbia Preservation Society

The Lower Columbia Preservation Society presented at check for $18,000 to the Clatsop Community College Foundation today to be used toward the development of a shop facility on the Lexington campus for the Historic Preservation and Restoration Program.

Executive Director of the Lower Columbia Preservation Society, Rachel Jensen, said the LCPS has been giving support through scholarships to the Historic Preservation and Restoration Program for a while, and when CCC Instructor Lucian Swerdloff approached the society about helping to develop a shop facility, they were on board. “We had some funds from this fiscal year that we could use for this cause. We feel it is important for students to have a good space on campus to develop their skills. The students that come out of this program support our Society’s efforts”, stated Jensen.

The proposed location for the Historic Preservation and Restoration shop is a section of Alder Hall. The college will look into options for the best placement of the shop moving forward.
