The CCC Foundation has received two grants to benefit CCC current and future students directly through scholarships and library enhancements.
Both grants are a result of the CCC Foundation’s increasing fundraising efforts to support the College and respond to a $1-million reduction in state support.
The Pacific Power Foundation has awarded a grant of $5,000 to match community contributions and provide scholarships to CCC for graduates from Clatsop County high schools. This represents the first investment received in a Matching Grant Fund modeled after the successful Miller match of the prior three years. The Pacific Power Foundation grant will be targeted to future graduates of Seaside High School based on high financial need in that community and a desire on the part of the College to increase enrollment by Seaside High School graduates. During the recently completed academic year, 21% of 2010 Seaside HS graduates enrolled in CCC.
The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation has awarded a grant of $2,500 to help fund the purchase of new furnishings for the College’s Dora Badollet Library. The majority of the existing furniture was purchased in the 1970s when the library was constructed. It is outdated, extremely worn, and does not meet current student needs for collaborative as well as individual use. This grant will enhance the interior environment and contribute significantly to a modern, attractive and functional collegiate library facility.
