How will you pay for college? Like many students, financial aid may be an option.
Financial aid comes in many forms and can be a vital part of paying for higher education. It is not awarded automatically, however. A student must file for federal and state financial aid to receive financial assistance by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available beginning January 1st each year for the upcoming academic year.
This year, more than ever, it is imperative for students to file the FAFSA as early as possible beginning January 1st, 2011 to receive the best aid package available for the 2011-2012 academic year. Students may file the the FAFSA digitally at www.fafsa.ed.gov
Students hoping to qualify for the State funded Oregon Opportunity Grant to help pay their educational costs should submit their FAFSA on or before January 15th. These grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Other campus-based funding such as workstudy, the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant and the CCC Success and Opportunity Grants are also awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
CCC’s website is an invaluable resource for understanding the financial aid process. Here, students will find information regarding the types of aid available, application directions, forms, tutorials, award information, etc.
