Chris Breitmeyer Accepts Position as Clatsop Community College President

Chris Breitmeyer has accepted the Board of Directors’ offer to become the next president of Clatsop Community College. Breitmeyer will start his new position in July as he settles into the area with his family this summer.

“We are extremely pleased to announce that Chris has accepted the offer,” said Rosemary Baker-Monaghan, Board of Directors Chair for Clatsop Community College. “We look forward to him starting and feel he will bring new energy to the college.”

Breitmeyer, currently Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Saint Charles Community College in Missouri, will replace Interim President Gerald Hamilton who has been serving in the role since last fall throughout the presidential search process.  The presidential search opened with a large pool of over 30 well-qualified applicants. A stakeholder committee made up of 22 community members helped review the applications and interview applicants via Skype to narrow the pool to the top candidates. “We are very thankful for the stakeholders’ commitment to the process and their recommendations that helped us select our top candidates,” Baker-Monaghan stated.

Once the top candidates were chosen, on-campus interviews were conducted that allowed campus staff, faculty, and students, along with community members to interact with the candidates and offer feedback for each interviewee. Baker-Monaghan expressed how valuable that feedback was in making the final decision and selecting Breitmeyer.

Breitmeyer also expressed his excitement over being selected, “CCC is a wonderful institution and I look forward to teaching and learning with the great faculty and staff who have such a student-centered approach. I am honored that the board selected me to lead the institution and allow me to become a part of such a vibrant forward-thinking community.”

The final step in the presidential search process will happen at the June 14th Board of Directors meeting where the board will vote to approve the contract. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in Columbia Hall room 219 at 6:30 p.m.
