CCC’s Ales & Ideas presents Gluten Free Mania: Is It For You?

Clatsop Community College and the Fort George Brewery are pleased to announce the next public event in the Ales & Ideas lecture series featuring free multimedia presentations by members of the CCC faculty and staff: Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 7pm Teena Toyas presents Gluten Free Mania: Is It For You?

Many have experimented or joined one of the latest dietary fads of choosing to be gluten free.   Thousands of people are negatively affected from gluten and other proteins from different grains.  What exactly is gluten and why does gluten affect so many people in very negative ways and not others?  Learn more about gluten, living a gluten free life, dietary choices available for those who choose a gluten free diet and deciding if eliminating gluten from a diet is necessary or even a wise choice.   Please join Teena Toyas for an informative and fun evening as she presents some interesting discoveries concerning gluten and being gluten free.  She will share her personal story concerning why she has chosen to be gluten free for almost two years and how this decision has benefited her life.

Teena Toyas is a Health and Physical Education Instructor at Clatsop Community College.  She is a Commissioner for North Coast Soccer and Volleyball Officials and the Vice President and Training Officer for North Coast Basketball Officials.  She recently served a four year term on the National Federation of State High School Associations Basketball Rules Committee as the National Officials Representative.  Teena holds a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Austin Peay State University and a M.A. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Murray State University.  She has taught in the Clatsop Community College Health and Physical Education Department on a full-time basis since 1999.

Doors to the Lovell Showroom open at 6pm with seasonal ales, other beverages, and meals available for purchase.  Minors are welcome.
