Clatsop Community College is proud to host the first Coastal FiberArts Exhibit in the CCC Art Center Gallery.
The exhibit is a partnership between Astoria Visual Arts and CCC, and was conceived and coordinated by AVA board member Cheryl Silverblatt.
Coastal Fiber Arts 2011 brings together fifty-one artists from across the United States and presents a variety of media including contemporary weaving, quilts, baskets, wearable art and more. The exhibit, juried by noted fiber artist Barbara Setsu Pickett, uniquely illustrates a range of forms that break traditional barriers in fiber arts.
“We have an amazing array of styles and techniques that will inspire artists across many media,” says exhibit organizer Silverblatt.
An Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, July 14, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at which Pickett will comment on the jury process and announce the exhibit’s awards. The exhibit continues through August 18, 2011.
Exhibit hours are from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and select Saturdays (7/16, 7/23 and 8/6) from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The CCC Art Center Gallery is located at 1799 Lexington Avenue in Astoria and is ADA accessible.
Special thanks to the Cannery Pier Hotel, Drew Herzig and Charles Schweigert for their support in producing this special exhibit.
