CCC and Eastern Oregon University Collaborate to Offer Local Business Degree

Dr. Lawrence Galizio, President of Clatsop Community College and Dr. Donald Easton-Brooks, Dean of the Eastern Oregon University (EOU) School of Business will formally sign the cooperative agreement establishing a joint program that permits students to earn an Associate of Science-Oregon Transfer (ASOT) degree from Clatsop and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from EOU while remaining on the CCC campus.

The signing ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 21 at 2:30pm in Columbia Hall Room 219, 1651 Lexington Avenue, Astoria, and will be followed by a brief reception. The public is welcome to attend.

This new educational opportunity will begin in Fall Term 2014. Following completion of an ASOT degree, participating students will be able to transfer 120 credits from CCC into the EOU Bachelor’s degree program. Students will continue in upper division classes offered by EOU on the CCC campus on Fridays and Saturdays.

Additional EOU representatives will be present at the ceremony including Dr. Laurie Yates, EOU Business faculty member, and Tim Weatherly, EOU program advisor who maintains an office on the CCC main campus. CCC will also be represented by Dr. Donna Larson, Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs; Kristen Wilkin, Dean of Workforce and Community Education; Tommie Redwine, CCC Business faculty, and members of the CCC Business Advisory Committee.

Clatsop Community College views this new program as an enormous benefit to students who are unable to leave the local area, and hopes it will serve as the catalyst for other partnerships and programs with baccalaureate degree-granting institutions to further expand local educational offerings.
