The Clatsop Community College Library is partnering with the ACLU of Oregon to celebrate intellectual freedom and highlight the dangers of censorship as part of Banned Books Week.
Campus and community leaders will read five minute excerpts from classic and contemporary banned or challenged books on Wednesday, October 3, noon to 1:00p.m. in the 3rd floor atrium of Towler Hall on the CCC main campus, 1660 Lexington Avenue, Astoria. All are welcome.
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Held nationally during the last week of September, Banned Books Week features books that have been the targets of attempted bannings. The event this year is celebrated across the United States from September 30 through October 6.
