The Clatsop Community College Associated Student Government (ASG) has been busy this winter.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, ASG Officers Serena Orwick, David Stull, Brian Van Gundy, Matt Mizell and Sponsors Roger Friesen and Lois Tivey delivered approximately 150 balloons to the Astor House, Clatsop Care Center, and Columbia Memorial Hospital.
“At first, we had a hard time finding our ASG students in the van as it was filled with so many balloons and after we got all the balloons into the van the battery died,” laughs Lois Tivey, who drove the student and balloon packed van. They were able to charge the battery and were ready to start off again, albeit drenched from the winter rain. “We looked like drowned rats, but it was a very successful event leaving lots of smiles on the faces of the residents and staff members of these establishments.”
On Wednesday, March 9, the ASG held the ASG Fiesta event to provide food and entertainment during the last week of winter term classes for students and employees of the College. This free event included Mexican style food prepared by J. Windsor & Co. and musical entertainment by the authentic Mariachi band, Los Palmeros.
