Clatsop Community College has appointed Associated Student Government officers for the winter term.
A committee of students, faculty and staff appointed the officers through an interview process. The Associated Student Government (ASG) is a student leadership group that represents students’ concerns and ideas to the College Board, faculty and staff. As an ASG officer, students are provided with opportunities to demonstrate leadership skills and have an impact on the CCC student experience.
“We want the students to take a significant role in college direction,” says Roger Friesen, Dean of Student Services. “They are a communication bridge between CCC students and the College administration. One more information resource for students on our campus.” To accomplish that, the ASG tries to have an officer sit on the PAT and the Instructional Council, and sit in on College Board meetings.
Additionally, the ASG officers provide entertaining and goodwill events throughout the year for students, staff, and the community. This year, activities include an American Red Cross blood drive this winter, and a Cinco de Mayo event and campus talent show in the spring. Also, the ASG officers hope to install a flat screen TV outside of the ASG office in Columbia Hall. The TV would act as an additional communication device between the ASG and the student body.
The following students will serve in their positions for the winter term and have the option to continue into the spring term.
