The Seaside and Astoria Branches of the American Association of Women (AAUW) and Clatsop Community College (CCC) have announced the annual WINGS Conference to be held on March 3, 2012.
Previously held in the fall, the date changed to allow participants more time to coordinate factors such as course scheduling, financial assistance or enrollment in the “Lives in Transition” program at Clatsop Community College.
WINGS (Women INterested in Going to School) is a day-long conference for women who would benefit by returning to school to complete or begin educational efforts, including completion of a GED or other degree programs, changing careers, or developing and updating job skills.
The conference is free to all participants with lunch and child care provided. Held at the college, the conference will offer workshops to encourage and facilitate re-entry into school. The workshops focus on financial aid, support programs, career planning, distance learning and more. In addition, there will be a morning session to help women interested in going to an Oregon four year university.
For more information or to register for WINGS 2012, please call (503) 717-1852 or visit WINGS. Preregistration is required to attend.
The local AAUW/CCC WINGS Conference has been nationally recognized by the AAUW’s Breaking Through Barriers Award. Almost 500 women have attended the conference since 2002. Of the WING’s “graduates” 80% enrolled at CCC and other institutions in the state; 48% have enrolled in the “Lives in Transition” program at Clatsop Community College.
