* Personal assistance with all stages of writing a paper for Writing, Speech, Psychology and other courses.

*  Explanations and help with grammatical terms and the mechanics of writing.

*  You may sign up for three hours per week.  (Sign up sheet is on the door.)

Preparation:

Make sure that you know your assignment.  Listen to your instructor in class, ask questions, and read any handouts or assignment sheets.  Go to your instructor's office for consultation if needed.

*Bring your assignment handouts and/or textbook.

Bring some kind of beginning to your paper or project:  notes, outlines,

partial drafts or complete rough drafts.

Make sure your written work is double-spaced for editing.

Bring your Student ID Card or know your Student Number for

the attendance sheet.  (I have to document your visit for my

     supervisor.)

Understanding:

* Please realize that writing a good paper takes time, so plan ahead.  Last

minute miracles are not likely to happen.  Do not bring stacks of reading

material that you have not read and expect the lab instructor to read and put

it together for you in a paper.  If you have an appointment that you cannot

keep, erase your name from the sign-up sheet or call the lab and cancel

   the appointment.

Help sessions can be for an hour or a half hour with a maximum of three

     hours per week per student.

If you schedule doesn't allow you to use the lab during my posted hours,

I will try to accommodate you at a different time.

If you do not have an appointment, you may drop in if someone else is

     not scheduled.

The lab offers help and advice; however, you still have to do the work.
