CCC CAREER PLANNING OFFICE
Clatsop Community College offers resources and support to help you make career decisions or conduct a job search.

Career Counseling
Students and community members can make appointments for individual career counseling with the College’s Career Counselor. Students can get assistance with choosing a career field or college major. The Career Counselor will meet individually with students to help them understand their assessment results.

Career Assessment
Assessments are tools that can help you identify career options that make sense for you. These tests are designed to help students identify their career-related skills and interests.

Career Assessments are free to students.

Community members may take career assessments for
$25 per assessment.

CCC offers the following assessments:

  • The Strong Interest Inventory
  • Career Information System (CIS) Skills Assessment
  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Strong Interest Inventory
Choosing a career can feel like a monumental decision. At the same time, it can also feel like guesswork.  But with the highly reliable Strong Interest Inventory® assessment, you can discover your interests, preferences, and personal styles—exactly the information you need to select classes or choose a career you can be passionate about.

Career Information System Online (CIS)
Clatsop Community College students can now access CIS on the Internet. Contact Lisa Nyberg by phone at 503-338-2480 for the User Name and Password.

Web Site: http://oregoncis.uoregon.edu/webcis

CIS includes:

Skills:
Great assessment tool. Students identify skills they hope to use in a career of the future. CIS uses that information to create a list of occupations which use the skills the students have identified. From here you can research the occupations that appear on your assessment.

Occupations Database:
Detailed descriptions of over 500 occupations including training requirements, occupational outlook and salary projections for Oregon and the US.

Financial Aid Sort:
A searchable database containing hundreds of scholarship opportunities and instructions on how to apply.

Undergraduate School Sort:
Allows you to create a list of US Colleges and Universities that match your criteria. Great for transfer students.

The Career Counselor is available to help students research occupations and labor market trends. A variety of career research tools can be found on the Internet and CCC has a small library of career-related information located in Student Services.
