Dates & Deadlines

You must be officially admitted to Clatsop Community College before your financial aid application can be processed.  In addition, you must apply for financial aid each academic year you wish to receive funding.

It is important that you submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible, but no earlier than January 1 prior to the academic year you are applying for.  Clatsop's academic year begins with Summer term and ends with the following Spring term.  Campus-based funding is limited and is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.  The date you apply and the date all outstanding requirements are submitted can affect the amount of your financial aid awards.

Priority Processing Deadline Dates for 2012-2013

Summer 2012:  May 1, 2012

Fall 2012:  August 1, 2012

Winter 2013: November 15, 2012

Spring 2013:  February 15, 2013

What is a Priority Processing Deadline?  In order for your financial aid award to be processed and reviewed by our office, you will need to have completed all Steps to Financial Aid at Clatsop Community College (.pdf, 101 KB) by the posted Priority Deadline to ensure completion of your award by the beginning of a term. There may be times when processing of completed applications  occur faster than these priority dates but dates are posted to give you the best estimate we can for your information and planning especially during peak times.

If you miss the Priority Deadline, your application will still be processed but you will be responsible to cover your own expenses (living and educational) until the time that an award can be processed.  CCC's Payment Information page will give a detailed explanation of your responsibilities and payment options.  Awards continue to be processed throughout the term as financial aid applications are received and completed.  Awards are retroactive, if you are eligible, within the academic year.  However, due to high volumes and needed processing times these deadlines are posted for your information and planning.

Your FAFSA must be received and processed by the US Department of Education by no later than the last day of the academic year you are applying for.  There are no exceptions to this deadline.  It is important to note that, due to the length of time needed for the processing of aid, students who apply within 30 days of the last day of their enrollment period cannot be guaranteed delivery of their aid.

Important Note:  The awarding process can take several months, so be sure to PLAN AHEAD and respond promptly to all correspondence.
