Associated Student Government Officers 2011-12
Helen Johnson has been appointed ASG President for the 2011-12 academic year. Helen is a proud 3rd generation Clatsop student. She is a 2010 Astoria High School graduate, and she hopes to go back and teach social studies there someday. Helen works at an attorney's office in town, as well as at Lewis and Clark National Historical Park: Fort Clatsop. In her free time she enjoys reading, skateboarding, kayaking and spending time with her friends and family.
My name is Naomi Olson and I am 19 years old and will be the ASG Events Coordinator this year. I graduated from Astoria High School in 2011, and am currently attending CCC for a transfer degree and then I plan on getting my BSN in nursing, specializing in OB/GYN. In my free time I like to play with my rabbit Alfie, who is four years old, and my dog Oxley, who is a 7 month old black lab. I like to read almost anything, and my favorite TV show is Bones. I love coffee and the Broadway show Wicked.
Jackie Welborn is taking pre-nursing courses at Clatsop Community College and hopes to apply to the CCC Nursing Program Spring 2012. She enjoys life on the North Coast, including kayaking and gardening. Jackie received a BS from Washington State University in Forestry and worked for several years in the coast range forests before moving on to a career in college ministry. will serve as ASG Clubs Coordinator for the 2011-12 academic year. Janet Mossman is the ASG Student Ambassador and is currently finishing her AA in Accounting here at Clatsop and plans on opening her own accounting practice locally in Warrenton where she will offer full service financial accounting, payroll and tax services. She has worked in the management field for over 20 years, most recent 18 of which were in the healthcare sector. Janet and her Husband Len have three grown children (all of whom are CCC graduates) and 4.5 grandchildren. Janet enjoys doing family history research, photography and camping with family and friends in her free time.

Leadership Opportunities
ASG is a student organization that coordinates student activities on campus and provides assistance and service to the student population.
Students apply for the ASG positions and interview with a college hiring committee which then appoints individuals to the ASG positions. Interviews begin in spring 2011. If you would like to apply for an ASG position for the 2011-2012 academic year contact Lois Tivey by email or phone to find out. (see contact information below.)
Student government provides Clatsop Community College students with the opportunity to gain leadership skills and to help other students. Among other responsibilities student government officers:
- plan campus activities
- develop the yearly ASG budget
- participate in various community service events
- serve as members of some campus committees
- provide advocacy for students in campus decision-making
- receive tuition reimbursement

Clubs and Organizations or Campus Student Activities
Along with traditional course work, out-of-class activities, clubs and other campus organizations are an important part of a student's education. At Clatsop, there are recreation and social activities throughout the year. If you have a special interest, you are invited to form a club and seek ASG approval
as a recognized student organization.
