The campus Testing Center is located in Columbia Hall, Room 110. All testing is done by appointment and we currently offer the following types of testing:
The GED is a series of five tests in Writing, Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math equivalent to a high school diploma. It is widely accepted by other colleges and universities as well as many companies requiring a high school-level education.
You must be at least 16 years of age to take the GED tests, and at the required orientation provide a current photo ID as well as proof of payment from Student Services. GED classes are offered here at the college for those students wishing to better prepare for the tests, but if you feel you are prepared you may take the tests upon completion of a mandatory intake orientation session.
GED Computer Based Testing will begin the week of February 9, 2014. Contact the GED office to be notified when registration for tests is open.
Please be advised the GED test has changed. Beginning in 2014, the GED Testing Service issued a new series of computer based tests, which replace the 2002 paper and pencil version. This means that people who began testing with the 2002 version are required to start over using the new computer based tests. All previous scores completed prior to 2014 are considered "null and void".
Please contact the GED Chief Examiner at 503-338-2481 or email GED Chief Examiner for more information. For more information regarding GED preparation classes you may call 503-338-2347 or click here .

COMPASS placement testing
Clatsop College currently uses the COMPASS placement test to assess incoming students' level of knowledge and to assist in class placement at registration. The complete test covers Writing, Math and Reading skills and is NOT TIMED. The testing center provides pencils, scratch paper and calculators. If they prefer, students can use their own calculator; nothing more advanced than a TI-86. A student may request earplugs to block out noise distraction. The test is offered several times per week throughout the year. Cost for the entire test is currently $15, or $10 for any one test. Students must sign up for the COMPASS online through their student account. Click here to login to your student account (if you have taken classes at CCC previously you have a student account). If you do not have a student account click here to create one. STUDENTS WILL NEED TO KNOW THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER in order to take the test. If you need assistance call 503-338-2411 or drop by Student Services (Columbia Hall, Room 108).
COMPASS fees will only be cancelled if:
Upon completion of testing, a copy of your COMPASS scores will be provided to you. To obtain a copy of your COMPASS scores after this time, please contact the Testing Center at 503-338-2426 or email Testing Center Proctor .
