North Coast Big Band Swing Era Concert

NORTH COAST BIG BAND SWING ERA CONCERT
 
 
On Saturday October 10th, the North Coast Big Band will perform a jazz concert at Clatsop Community Performing Arts Center, at 16th, and Franklin, in Astoria, at 7:30 pm.  The program features music by band member David Robertson, as well as Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin, Les Brown, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and many other big band favorites.  Admission is $10.00.
 
The North Coast Big Band was founded over thirty years ago by Dennis Thiel, and lead tenor sax player, Dr. John  Banholzer.  The band performs throughout the Northwest, for dances, weddings, and concerts.  The North Coast Big Band is composed of five saxophones, five trombones, five trumpets, vocalist Jeanne Bellinger, piano, bass, drums, and guitar.  The program will play a wide variety of familiar music, including jazz, swing, and ballads.
 
 
The upcoming concert is made possible by Clatsop Community College’s popular “Arts and Ideas” series.
